Research RN – Diabetes Educator
This position is created in the context of a funded research project aimed at addressing health disparities and improving diabetes management through innovative and culturally sensitive educational interventions.The Research Nurse (RN) - Diabetes Educator will work with the Research Institute to achieve the goals and objectives of this project.
The RN will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive diabetes education programs tailored to the cultural and linguistic needs of our diverse patient population. Additionally, the RN will engage in research activities to evaluate the effectiveness of these educational interventions and contribute to the body of knowledge on diabetes management.
The Research Nurse - Diabetes Educator will:
- Develop and Implement Educational Programs: Create comprehensive diabetes education programs tailored to the cultural and linguistic needs of our diverse patient population.
- Conduct Research: Engage in research activities to evaluate the effectiveness of educational interventions and contribute to the body of knowledge on diabetes management.
- Support JC Standards: Ensure compliance with Joint Commission (JC) standards on health disparities by providing equitable and accessible education.
- Community Outreach: Collaborate with community organizations to extend educational efforts beyond the clinical setting, fostering a supportive environment for diabetes management.
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of experience with a BA/BS or MS preferred.
- Current RN license.
- A minimum of two years' experience working in clinical research preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with patients, medical staff, and reporting research findings.
- Experience with Word and Excel is required.Experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS or JASP) and online databases (such as RedCap) is a plus.
- Familiarity with diabetes education and culturally sensitive healthcare practices is also a plus.
