ANA\California Calls for Candidates

Upcoming elections will choose a new board of directors

American Nurses Association board meeting

If you’re an ANA\C member and want to help shape the future of nursing in California, consider becoming a candidate in their upcoming elections.

Deadline: Oct. 21, 2024

Biennial Elections

Members of the ANA\C board of directors normally serve two-year terms. The upcoming elections will choose the board for 2025–2027, including the following offices:

  • President
  • Vice president
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary
  • Legislative director
  • Nursing education director
  • Nursing practice director
  • Membership director

The elections will also choose ballot committee members and
ANA membership representatives. Candidates can run for both a board position and committee membership at the same time.

To become a candidate, you must be a current ANA\C member, and you can’t be in a leadership position in any other professional organization that might create a conflict of interest.

Complete the consent-to-serve form online, and write a brief first-person statement (up to 150 words) describing your qualifications and why you’d like to serve.

You should discuss your candidacy with your employer to make sure they’ll support you in the various time commitments, which may require you to attend face-to-face meetings and events in California or Washington, D.C.

Why Serve?

Becoming an ANA\C board member is a great way to give back — not only to the organization itself, but also to nursing in California. It’s an opportunity to take a leadership role on policy affecting nurses in our state. (Board membership also looks pretty good on your resume!)

The deadline to become a candidate is Monday, Oct. 21, 2024.
