Infection Prevention Coordinator Infection Control, RN
The Infection Prevention Coordinator is responsible for identifying healthcare-associated infection risks to patients and personnel through surveillance, observation and assessment. The Coordinator specializes in leading IP staff in developing, implementing, monitoring and reporting infection risk-reduction strategies through collaboration with all levels of medical center personnel.
The Infection Prevention Coordinator researches and develops infection control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements, nationally-recognized infection control guidelines, and recognized best practices for IP staff and clinical staff to follow.
Coordinator works closely with IP staff to gather and analyze epidemiologic data, develops reports to communicate findings and manage performance improvement activities to reduce infection risks. Coordinator must have effective written & oral communication skills, to manage and lead team participation and management skills and be able to demonstrate meticulous attention to accuracy with data collection and reporting.
Infection Prevention Coordinator focuses on-going department-specific and facility-wide educational programs related to infection prevention and control. Qualifications
Licensure and Certification:
- Current California Registered Nurse License (RN) or comparable license in a related healthcare field such as CLS/MT (ASC), D.P.M, M.D or advance related healthcare field or epidemiology training by degree such as MPH (Masters Public Health).
- Current BLS provider card
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required. If in process, must pass exam within 12 months of hire
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or commensurate degree in a healthcare related field. Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
Experience:
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years of infection control experience in an acute care setting and specific training through APIC, CDC, and/or California Department of Health in Infection Control.
